The Good And Bad Side Of Google Adsense

AdSense is without doubt the best way for anyone getting into blogging or considering Internet Marketing to make a little money. Since the money you make from Adsense is what is called, ‘Passive Income’, meaning that if you did not write another word in your blog or website, you would still be earning money from Adsense as long as there are people visiting your site. AdSense also allows webmasters to concentrate on creating content for their sites, without having to worry about getting advertisers to invest in their websites. This means that the Google Adsense people take care of getting the advertisements to your site for you.

And since AdSense can also very well integrated with your site that is easily adaptable in terms of color, size and position means that you have many choices in which to make Adsense fit into your current site or blog template.

The great thing about using AdSense is that anyone can do it, and there are people out there today who are making a substantial living with it.

That said, there are some obvious negative aspects to advertising with AdSense.  First of all, you have very little control of the type of ads that are displayed on your site. What I mean by this is that your Adsense Ads can be a bunch of low paying ads, meaning that you get next to nothing per click. There are many bloggers who’ve attempted to make money online only to give up in frustration when months or years of their lives have been consumed with nothing to show for it. Another aspect to Adsense that you need to consider is what’s called “click fraud”, that means someone would produce artificial clicks on your page.  And it’s not necessarily just you who’s making those artificial clicks,  it could be your competition in to get your Adsense account closed.  Another downside to using Google Adsense is that your income is not guaranteed, and will fluctuate, sometimes greatly, from month to month.  If you are relying on your Google check to pay your bills, you may be in for a shock when your checks are not enough to cover them.

If that weren’t enough, you also need to make sure that your sites are on the first page of Google for their keywords, and if you are not on page 1, you are not going to make much money.  And let’s not start talking about content, which you will need to create, which can be time consuming if you are writing your own posts.

As you can see, although Adsense is a great tool to help monetize your website, it can also have its downside too. In the next posts I’ll discuss more on how to use Adsense to your advantage.
